According to the Central Division, a businessman's desire to buy a camera online turned out to be costly. Allegedly, he fell into a trap set by online WhatsApp fraudsters and lost Rs 2 crore.

The businessman filed a complaint at the Hare Street police station and with the Central Division's cyber cell regarding the incident on March 3.

During the investigation, Sergeant Somnath Ghosh of the cyber cell recovered Rs 1.6 crore for the businessman.

He said in his complaint that he wanted to buy a camera for his business for which he searched the internet for a company selling cameras.
