    Times of India | 17 March 2025
  • Kolkata: Acting on an FIR lodged by Priyadarshini Mallick, secretary of WB Council of HS Education, against a video sharing fake news regarding the leak of Bengali and English question papers of HS Examination 2025, the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station arrested two individuals from Purulia and Murshidabad.

It turned out the two men ran a fraud scheme and SIM card scam through a Telegram group. Approximately 2,500 pre-activated SIM cards and 65 mobile phones were seized from them. However, the mobile phones were all keypad models, not smartphones. The police identified the arrested individuals as Shrimanta Gorai, who is from Purulia, and Alfaz Sheikh, who is from Mirzapur.

Mallick wrote in her complaint dated March 7 that the information shared in the video was false and fabricated because the security features (QR Code) of the actual question papers did not resemble the screenshot shown in the video.
