Kolkata: Calcutta University revised its postgraduate exam-related notice, stating that the answer scripts will only be corrected by the university professors, a system in place since 2018. The recent circular, which barred guest teachers, had sparked controversy and prompted the university to issue a revised circular reaffirming the existing system.
Interim vice-chancellor Santa Datta said, "The 2018 regulations state that only full-time university teachers and guest lecturers are allowed to set exam questions and evaluate answer scripts for postgraduate exams. Therefore, these two points in the new circular are irrelevant. So these two points related to question setting and answer script evaluation by the guest teachers have been removed. However, the other points have been kept unchanged."
An exam-related circular for PG science subjects had been issued by the university, stating that guest teachers in colleges wouldn't be allowed to set questions and check answer scripts.
However, the decision of conducting examinations for the PG science subjects at away centres will be ex-ecuted according to the previous circular.
