Kolkata: Bengal govt moved Calcutta High Court on Tuesday seeking the court's permission to collect voice samples of CPM youth neta Kalatan Dasgupta, accused in hatching a conspiracy to attack junior doctors protesting the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder. The HC is likely to hear the petition this week.
Dasgupta was arrested by Bidhannagar Police in Sept 2024 soon after an audio clip was released by Trinamool's Kunal Ghosh, purportedly of a call between the CPM youth neta and another person. Ghosh alleged that the clip revealed that a conspiracy was afoot to attack junior doctors on protest in front of Swasthya Bhavan with a motive to malign state govt.
The HC later granted Dasgupta bail, and questioned whether an arrest could be made based on a purported telephonic conversation.
