• KMDA gets 5.9 cr more to fix batteredroads in Salt Lake

  • 12 Kolkata: The state govt on Tuesday sanctioned another Rs 5.9 crore to the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority for the repair and upgradation of roads in different locations of the Salt Lake Sector II area. The state govt earlier sanctioned Rs 25 crore to BMC to take up road repairs in 14 wards across Salt Lake. KMDA also prepared a Rs 12 crore road repair scheme, out of which Rs 4.5 crore was sanctioned earlier.

    The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and KMDA are jointly conducting road repairs across Salt Lake. Damaged stretches across different blocks are being repaired with bituminous mastic asphalt to ensure longevity. Some roads were the repair work is taking place include the stretches from Tank No. 4 to Canal Side Road, from PNB Island to Canal Side Road, and some of the inner lanes at BA, CA, CE, AL, and BG blocks.

    "Damaged stretches across all the wards, including the inner lanes of the blocks, will be repaired," said a civic official. The authorities allocated Rs 76 crore for the development of roads and pavements across the BMC areas of Salt Lake and Rajarhat-Gopalpur for the upcoming financial year, starting April 1.
