Kolkata: Calcutta high court on Wednesday quashed criminal proceedings against the head of Audi India, which is a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd, and the company's customer service head in a case where a buyer filed a petition after his luxury car developed brake failure within a year and a half of purchase and five months after servicing.
The case was against the two along with the chief operating officer, Audi Kolkata and the MD of the authorised distributorship company. The proceeding was under IPC sections 34, 120B, 418 and 420.
"The accused, who have their offices in Mumbai, have never been related directly with the transaction," Justice Rai Chattopadhyay held. tnn
