• State issues alert in Birbhum, Mursh villages after bird flu cases reported in J’khand’s Pakur

  • Kolkata: The Bengal govt had given an alert to villages within 10 km radius in the districts in Birbhum and Murshidabad adjoining Pakur in Jharkhand following report of bird flu in Pakur.

    People are advised to avoid sick or dead birds and report unusual mortality to the authority.

    The animal resources development department had asked for monitoring and surveillance so that movement of birds in and out of the surveillance area should be strictly regulated.

    Surveillance involves monitoring the health and movement of poultry birds in affected areas which is within 10km radius of Pakur.

    All poultry farms, markets and areas with birds should strictly follow bio security protocols and public is to be made aware of the bird flu, a directive of the ARD dept said.
