• Tea garden asst manager killed by worker

  • Siliguri: An assistant manager at Jayantika Tea Garden, Nilanjan Bhadra, was allegedly hacked to death by a garden worker, Elthrus Ekka, at the Bas Line Division of the tea garden in Phansidewa on Thursday. Ekka has been arrested.

    Bhadra was struck from behind on the neck with a sharp weapon. The force of the blow caused him to fall 9 feet away from his bike, and he died on the spot.

    Phansidewa Police, along with Naxalbari SDPO Neha Jain, reached the spot.

    "The area has been sealed off, and forensic experts collected evidence before the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. Ekka was arrested after confessing to the crime, claiming that Nilanjan falsely implicated him in a Rs 70,000 fraud," said a senior police officer.
