  • 123 Kolkata: Bengal govt has joined hands with telecom service provider Vodafone Idea to facilitate the digital transformation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Bengal.

West Bengal State Export Promotion Society (WBSEPS) signed an MoU with the telco recently to acquaint MSMEs with digital business. Currently, Bengal has close to 90 lakh MSMEs.

Rajesh Pandey, principal secretary in the MSME and Textiles department, said owners of MSMEs would be equipped with digital tools to drive business growth.

"Our partnership with the telecom company aims at making MSMEs grow their businesses by cashing in on digital platforms. This will create new business opportunities for them, especially rural artisans and women entrepreneurs, who will be ready to keep pace with changes coming up in the business world. This will also increase competitiveness among them," said Pandey.

Vi Business, the enterprise arm of the telecom operator, launched ‘Ready for Next' for the digital growth of MSMEs in 2022 and has since reached out to nearly 2 lakh such enterprises in the country.

Rajeev Mehta, executive vice president and segment head, Vi Business, said: "As part of our partnership with the state, we will take MSMEs to a digital route to accelerate their business growth. We will provide our digital advisory services to MSMEs in the state."
