  • NEW DELHI: BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari lashed out at West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday regarding Banerjee's UK visit and contentious remarks at a collegiate institution in England.

Bhandari asserted that INDI alliance leaders consistently disparage Bharat while abroad.

Bhandari emphasised that while Rahul Gandhi had previously criticised the nation on foreign soil, Mamata Banerjee is presently emulating Rahul Gandhi's footsteps.

He further contended that INDI alliance leaders harbour animosity towards national development and solely prioritise vote bank and communal politics.

Bhandari proclaimed that this approach has led to their continuous rejection by the electorate, forecasting similar outcomes in Bengal and the forthcoming 2024 elections. He concluded by asserting that India's developmental aspirations align with PM Modi's leadership.

"Leaders of the INDI alliance abuse Bharat whenever they go on foreign soil. Rahul Gandhi has a history of speaking against the country, and now Mamata Banerjee is following in Rahul Gandhi's footsteps... It's very clear that the INDI alliance leaders hate the progress of the country and only believe in vote banks in communal politics. This is why they have continued to be rejected by the people of the country, and they will be rejected, whether in Bengal or in the upcoming 2029. India wants progress, and progress means under PM Modi, " said BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari.

What Mamata Banerjee articulates at Kellogg College while addressing the gathering

Addressing a packed auditorium at Kellogg College, she said, "To maintain unity is a very difficult thing, but to divide people takes only a moment. Do you think the world can sustain such (divisive) ideology? When I am in the chair, I cannot divide society. I have to look after weaker sections and poor people. We have to work hard for them. At the same time, we have to work for all religions, castes and creeds together. We have to help them."

She was delivering a lecture on 'Empowerment of Women in Bengal and its Success', at the college's invitation.

"Before I die, I want to see unity," the CM said. "Unity is our strength and division our fall."Disrupted by hecklers who questioned her on the RG Kar rape-murder last Aug, she told a protester, "Love you, brother. If you want to do politics, go tell your party in my state. I will send chocolate to you and your ideology."
