Kolkata: Police probing the Chinar Park fake IT raid and robbery case are looking for at least three more suspects involved in the crime. Police said they had CCTV footage of multiple persons, other than the CISF personnel arrested in the case, roaming outside the Chinar Park home on the night of the crime. At least one person who didn't belong to the CISF but entered the victim's home is to be arrested.
"We have proper evidence about at least three more persons who were physically involved in this case during the crime, other than planning it. They are all on the run. We have certain leads about them, and multiple teams have set out for Bihar, Delhi, and Rajasthan to trace them down," said a senior officer of Bidhannagar city police.
On March 18, six men disguised as income tax officers and policemen stormed complainant Vinita Singh's grandmother's home, escaping with Rs 6 lakh in cash and jewellery. Suspecting foul play within the family, Vinita pointed fingers at her stepmother, Arati Singh, and uncle, Satyendra Yadav. She recalled a previous threat from her uncle, warning that he would strip the family of their possessions.
So far, police arrested five of the six intruders, all CISF personnel. Additionally, Arati Singh, the driver of the getaway car, and a middleman who arranged the vehicle were also arrested.
"Questioning Arati Singh, we learnt she planned the heist with one of her brothers and some other relatives. At least one of them was outside the Chinar Park home at the time of the fake raid. We are also questioning Satyendra Yadav for any details that he may have," said the officer.
Sources said Arati's brother had got in touch with a CISF head constable and had shared with him the plan of the hesit. "The constable had in turn shared the plan with CISF inspector AK Singh while they were on duty at Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj," an officer said.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old complainant, Vinita, her friend who was home with her on that night, and her grandmother were escorted to Dum Dum Central Jail on Friday afternoon. Police confirmed they identified the five CISF personnel in a test identification parade among a group of similar-looking men.
"They already identified the CISF personnel during the TI parade. Now, we will approach the court again on Saturday and will seek their police custody for further breakthrough in the case," said the officer.
