Kolkata: The Centre has released Rs 361 crore to the Bengal govt for the National Health Mission (NHM). However, the funds were cleared with a rider that Sushathya Kendra needs to be renamed "Ayushman Arogya Kendra". An official said the state govt has agreed to rename the health centres. The funds were stopped earlier over the nomenclature issue. There are around 10,652 Suswasthya Kendras in the state. The Centre had also blocked MGNREGA and PMAY funds to the state earlier.
A health official said that the renaming of the centres will start in April. The "Biswa Bangla" logo will be used along with the NHM logo. "The name, ‘Suswasthya Kendra', will be mentioned in Bengali. Below it, Ayushman Arogya Kendra will be there, followed by ‘Arogyam Param Dhanam'. Also, ‘Health & Wellness Centre' will be written in English," the official said.
