  • Kolkata: Kolkata Police have introduced a "Report Your Cyber Crime" hyperlink button on their website that takes a cyber crime victim directly to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to lodge their complaints at ease.

The feature has been recently introduced at the website https://kolkatapolice.gov.in. After submitting essential details—including the victim's name, address, police station, time of fraud, lost amount, and bank name—the complaint is instantly uploaded to the cyber crime division of Kolkata Police, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and banks (public and private sector) concerned.

"The new functions allows victims to file cyber fraud complaints from anywhere in the country, ensuring immediate action. A key highlight of this initiative is the ability to block fraudulent transactions within 15 minutes of reporting, preventing scammers from withdrawing the stolen money," said a senior officer of Kolkata Police.

Citizens can also dial 1644 to seek immediate guidance, the officer said.
