• Lawyer files complaint against former classmate for stalking and threats in Kolkata

  • 123 Kolkata: A 24-year-old lawyer lodged a complaint against a former batchmate from her law school, accusing him of stalking, forcibly entering her home and office, and threatening her with dire consequences after she rejected his marriage proposal.

    The woman complained that the youth was stalking her since Oct last year. On Monday, he escalated his actions by intruding into her personal and professional spaces.

    "On Monday, he visited my office premises and created a huge ruckus, demanding to see me and threatening people with dire consequences. On coming to know that I was not in the office but at home, he showed up at my house around 2.15 pm and forcibly entered my home premises. He misbehaved with me and my parents and threatened us on multiple occasions. Furthermore, he threatened to marry me, with or without my consent," the woman wrote in her complaint at Baguiati police station.

    The woman wrote that her parents, along with her, told him and explained to him that she has no feelingsfor him and further rejected his advances. He left after threatening them with dire consequences.

    She expressed grave concern for her safety and urged cops to take swift and appropriate action against the man. She requested immediate police intervention, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.

    "I am in fear for my safety," she added in her complaint.

    Cops said they have started a case under BNS sections related to stalking, molestation, criminal trespass, and criminal intimidation. However, they said the youth is yet to be arrested.
