Kolkata: Coal India's board has decided to enhance notified price of coal by Rs 10 per tonne — from the existing Rs 10/tonne to Rs 20/tonne — for non-coking and Rs 10/tonne for coking coal. This would be for regulated and non-regulated sectors across CIL towards contribution to the corpus of CMPS-1998 (pension fund).
The average price of non-coking coal is Rs 1,000-1,100 per tonne, while for coking it is upwards of Rs 1,300. The impact of the price rise would be 0.8%-0.9% for non-coking coal, while for coking coal it would be in the range of 0.5% to 0.6%. It would be effective from April 16.
