Int’l drug cartel: Calcutta HC denies bail to Mizoram nurse

Kolkata: A nurse from Mizoram was denied bail by Calcutta High Court in an alleged international drug trafficking case.
The nurse allegedly sent a parcel, containing a commercial quantity of narcotics from the Netherlands, which was seized at the Foreign Post Office in Kolkata last year. The parcel was allegedly being monitored by other accused in the Netherlands and Kenya.
The woman was arrested on May 7, 2024. Around 2.1 kg amphetamine, being sent with kitchen appliances, was found. She moved court to seek bail, claiming she was unaware of the parcel's content and its sender.
But police claimed images of the parcel were sent to the woman's mobile number. But those were deleted.
