Kolkata Metro FY 25 rider count up 13.3% over FY 24

Kolkata: Metro carried 21.8 crore passengers in 2024-25, 13.3% more than the previous fiscal, said the carrier in a statement on Tuesday. In 2023-24, 19.3 crore people travelled by Metro, an official said.
The Blue Line (Dakshineswar-Kavi Subhash) rakes carried 18.9 crore passengers in 2024-25 compared to 17.9 crore in 2023-24, recording an 5.5% increase, the official added.
Green Line-2 (Howrah Maidan-Esplanade) carried 1.3 crore people in 2024-25.The Orange Line (New Garia-Ruby) recorded 5.9 lakh riders. Green Line-1 (Sealdah-Salt Lake Sector V) saw 15.5% hike in footfall than 2023-24's. The Purple Line (Joka-Majerhat) saw 31.3% surge in rider count.
