  • Kolkata: C K Birla Group's home and building products and services company, BirlaNu Ltd, formerly HIL Ltd, wants to expand its manufacturing capacities and tap into inorganic growth opportunities through acquisitions in eastern India. In Bengal, the company plans to strengthen its marketing infrastructure and supply chain in segments like construction chemicals, pipes, roofs and interiors.

    Recently, the company announced that it would invest around Rs 1,300 crore over the next three years to double sales in the coming four years. In FY 2024, the company's revenue was Rs 3,375 crore.

    The company's MD and CEO, Akshat Seth, who was in the city on Wednesday, said, "We have strategic investment plans in Bengal and other parts of eastern India, from where about 24% of our revenue comes. Bengal has always been an important market for us, and we are looking for new avenues in the state to drive growth. We are ready to seize organic and inorganic opportunities in the state."

    The company has 30 manufacturing plants in the country and two others in Germany and Austria, with customers and partners in over 80 countries. "We have contract manufacturers for construction chemicals in Bengal, while other products are brought here from outside. If needed, we may consider setting up a manufacturing unit in the state," said Vijay Lahoti, chief business officer of the company.

    The company is expanding its footprint across eastern India with acquisitions such as Crestia Polytech, Patna, in the pipes business in 2024 and the AAC Blocks business of Fastbuild, Cuttack, in 2022.
