  • Howrah: An organisation has moved the Calcutta High Court seeking clarity on Ram Navami procession routes in Howrah.

Anjani Putra Sena approached the high court following disputes over the route, which, according to state counsel, conflict with Vishwa Hindu Parishad's route. The matter will be heard by Justice Tirthankar Ghosh on Friday.

The trust mentioned that the rally was proposed to start from Lord Narsing Temple near Avani Mall around 3:30 pm and head along GT Road to Howrah Maidan. The police on March 4 granted permission but suggested a different route, going via Foreshore Road. Advocate general Kishore Dutta, appearing for the state, submitted that the VHP route at a point converges with this rally.

Cops will use drones for surveillance before Ram Navami, and over 200 rooftops will be monitored. The deployment includes over 7,000 police personnel, with additional forces on standby. The authorities have prohibited DJs, armed processions, and inflammatory slogans.

According to former Howrah BJP district president Ambuj Sharma and district secretary Om Prakash Singh, there will be three big and several smaller processions in the district.
