123 Kolkata: In a verbal communication with several heads of schools in Kolkata on Tuesday, education department officials instructed them to upload data for disbursement of salaries for the employees with disabilities. However, no clear instructions were provided for those, who lost their jobs, leaving their concerns unanswered.
After a virtual meeting, the school heads expressed their concern on how the salary-related issues would be resolved. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had clearly stated on Monday that no teacher or teaching staff would lose their jobs as the govt was on their side to solve the matter and that "untainted" candidates should not worry.
However, the virtual meeting left school heads confused.
Speaking to TOI, a headmistress said, "Today's virtual meeting covered various issues, but the department officials instructed us to abide by the top court order. They specifically stated that the salary should be disbursed for the disabled employees. However, it was not made clear what the directive was regarding others." Another headmaster said, "The chief minister stated that they can give voluntary service, but it's still not clear whether they will get a salary or not. They told us to keep a close watch on recent developments and instructions."
