Kolkata: The Kolkata Police, based on local inputs and detective department inputs, are planning to overhaul policing in the Kasba Tagore Park area to enhance security. Among several plans, one is to try and set up an outpost on the EM Bypass.
The brainstorming came soon after three incidents of snatching and kepmari were reported this year either on or barely off EM Bypass in the stretch between Ruby crossing and Panchannagram and locals demanding greater security. Sources saidwhile all cases were solved and the accused were nabbed, cops believe this move will increase police presence, especially during the lean hours of the day when the incidents were reported. A separate overhauling of the patrolling is also being considered.
"The area has been divided into three separate police divisions – South Suburban, Southeast, and East. We are planning better coordination to stop such incidents," said a senior officer at Lalbazar.
