• Bengal CM to inaugurate Digha’s Jagannath Temple on April 30, preparations in full swing

  • Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the Jagannath Dham, in the seaside town of Digha on April 30 and the administration is working round the clock to finalise arrangements for the grand event, including accommodations for a host of distinguished guests.

    The inauguration ceremony is expected to be attended by the chief ministers of several states, political leaders, top administrative officials, well known industrialists, and various dignitaries. Celebrities from the silver screen are also expected to add glamour to the occasion.

    A top official reviewed the ongoing preparations on Saturday.

    The administration is constructing two temporary helipads in addition to the existing one to facilitate the smooth movement of VIPs. To ensure seamless logistics for the guests, government guesthouses in Digha have already been reserved for their stay between April 27 and May 1.

    According to sources, the event is expected to be attended by 12,000 to 14,000 people.

    Additionally, the private hotels and lodges in Digha are experiencing a significant increase in bookings.

    The administration is not only focussing on details, including stage setup, lighting and sound systems, but also prioritising essential arrangements such as security, medical facilities, and transportation to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and the well-being of all attendees, said sources.

    According to the local administration, general tourists will not be permitted to stay in any government guest house in the popular coastal town from April 27 to May 1. The majority of these guest houses are under the purview of the Digha-Shankarpur Development Corporation and will be exclusively reserved for government guests during this period.
