West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday held a meeting with Imams and assured that Trinamool Congress is at forefront in fight against the new Waqf law in the Parliament.

Acknowledging that a few areas in Murshidabad district saw some disturbances over Waqf Act, she said,”Some media houses, paid by BJP, are circulating videos of violence that happened in other states to malign Bengal.”

Banerjee also denied claims of any involvement of her party in inciting the violence. “Had TMC been involved in Waqf violence as claimed by opposition, houses of its leaders would not have been attacked,” she added.
