  • Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission has begun preparations for fresh recruitment following the Supreme Court order. Under the new recruitment process, candidates are likely to receive copies of OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets, with SSC maintaining these records for future reference.

The Supreme Court has asked the SSC to advertise for the exam by May 31, 2025 and complete the recruitment process by Dec 31, 2025

Sources said that this time candidates might receive copies of answer sheets or OMR sheets, which they could carry with them after the exam. Provisional answer keys and final answer keys will be published so that candidates can check them before the results are announced, maintaining transparency in the examination process.

Learning from the ongoing recruitment-related issues, the commission is trying to make the fresh recruitment procedure smooth to prevent further complications. Sources confirmed that after the order, SSC officials started reviewing the draft rules to make minor modifications. "All the major revisions were made in the draft copy that SSC created in 2022, where minor modifications may be made as required," one official of the school education department said.

Taking lessons from the previous exam, the commission is now prioritising the development of a more transparent and secure system for evaluating and preserving these sheets. This time, candidates might receive copies of their answer sheets or OMR sheets that they could carry with them after the examination. During the evaluation, the commission will release provisional and final answer keys before declaring the final result, allowing candidates to cross-check with their OMR sheets. Through this procedure, the commission could avoid court cases in the future.

SSC has already started its preparation to upgrade internal infrastructure, such as enhancing infrastructure and upgrading internal storage. SSC has submitted a list of 'tainted' and 'other candidates' to the department. After the court order, the department will issue an order soon to segregate based on the list to disburse salaries.

Sources said that before the next session, these matters would be cleared so that eligible candidates, who were given relief to attend schools, could receive their salaries too.
