Kolkata: A 22-year-old youth from Garden Reach was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl multiple times after promising her marriage.
Amir Hossain was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by the girl's parents at the Garden Reach police station.
Police said Hossain and the girl had been acquaintances and their relationship grew into intimacy over time. "According to the parents, the accused took advantage of the girl's trust and sexually abused her on several occasions, while maintaining he would marry her," said a senior police officer.
The youth has been booked under the POCSO Act and the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He has been remanded in judicial custody. tnn
