Will urge Centre to set up permanent BSF camp: Sukanta after Shamsherganj visit

Dhuliyan: Bengal BJP president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar visited trouble-torn Shamsherganj on Monday, and said that he would urge Centre to set up a BSF permanent camp in the area. Majumdar added that he would brief the Union home ministry on the ground realities.
"I will raise the issue of a permanent camp of the BSF with MHA. But state govt has to agree. The victims were told that there can't be a BSF camp here. People have lost their faith in the police," Majumdar said. "Amitji (Shah) has been taking regular updates about Murshidabad and Malda, either from me or Subhenduda (Adhikari)," he added.
While Majumdar said CM Mamata Banerjee must visit the violence-hit areas, Trinamool reacted by saying that the CM would visit at the right time. "The CM does not need to learn politics from Majumdar. Murshidabad is part of a deep conspiracy. She has clearly said that she will visit the area at the right time. She wanted peace to be restored in the disturbed zones first," Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said.
Majumdar's visit has also been questioned by Congress. "There is a political conspiracy behind the incidents in Murshidabad and it is ending in a passing-the-buck game. We can only see curative measures from the state even though the police should have taken preventive measures," Congress national secretary Amba Prasad said.
Pradesh Congress, which had sent a team to the area recently, claimed both BJP and Trinamool were trying to gain political mileage from the incident. "Such violence cannot happen spontaneously without a plan," said state Congress president Subhankar Sarkar.
After his visit, Majumdar said he had visited Murshidabad though BJP might not get a seat in the district. "It is next to impossible for us to win these assembly segments. But we are not here for votes. Politics does not stop us from extending a helping hand to the needy," Majumdar added.
With Majumdar claiming police inaction and raising questions about the source of firearms, Ghosh said that BJP itself had claimed that the miscreants had come from Bangladesh.
