Kolkata/Goaltore: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee cut short her speech at an administrative programme in Goaltore on Tuesday after one of her supporters collapsed in the extreme heat. After noticing that Matiur Mondal, a member of a martyr's family from Garbeta, had collapsed on the ground, Banerjee instructed officials to take him to a nearby medical camp quickly. He was transferred to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital in the CM's car. Ministers Shiuli Saha, June Malia, MLA Sujay Hazra, and other party workers accompanied Mondal to the hospital.
Afterwards, Banerjee cut short her speech, saying it was too hot and uncomfortable for the audience to sit there. Before she went off the dais, Banerjee asked everyone to stay hydrated and take care of their health. "It is extremely hot this year. I have already advanced the school summer holidays, realising the situation," she said.
