Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Wednesday allowed leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari to go to violence-affected areas in Murshidabad on giving intimation to the state administration 24 hours ahead of his visit.
A division bench of justices Soumen Sen and Raja Basu Chowdhury allowed Adhikari and BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh to visit Murshidabad but restrained the petitioner from holding any rally or public meeting or making a political speech there.
The bench directed that the two would be accompanied by their security personnel only.
A single bench last week had ordered that the records of Adhikari's application be placed before the division bench.
