  • Kolkata: The state govt on Wednesday operated a help desk and posted senior officials at the Delhi airport to ensure smooth return of those who lost their family members in the Pahalgam terror attack. The Bengal Cabinet has also passed a resolution condemning the attack in Kashmir.

Sources said the deputy resident commissioner was personally posted at the Delhi airport along with a host of state home department officials who had flown to Delhi early on Wednesday.

"All arrangements were put up by our administration at the Delhi airport to help the family members of the victims and their onward journey to Kolkata. While two of the families were brought to Kolkata, another family, that of Manish Ranjan, was taken to Ranchi where from they were driven to their home in Jhalda," said CM Mamata Banerjee while speaking to reporters outside Apollo Gleneagles Hospital where she paid a visit to Governor CV Ananda Bose.

Earlier, in a post on X, Banerjee had said: "Our resident commissioner's office in Delhi is in touch with the family members. I am personally overseeing and our senior officers are working hands on…. Its a grim hour for all of us."
