Kolkata: SUCI observed its 78th anniversary on Thursday with an event at the Shaheed Minar grounds. The key speaker was party general secretary Provash Ghosh, and the programme was presided over by central committee member Manab Bera. A press release issued by the party said around 30,000 people gathered at the grounds.
SUCI adopted resolutions against terrorist attacks in Kashmir, demanded the appointment of qualified teachers, and called for the punishment of those involved in job scams.

The netas also condemned amendments to the waqf act and urged people to maintain harmony amid the tension in Murshidabad.
Ghosh said the attack on tourists in Kashmir was also an attack on the economy. He said Centre could not deny responsibility for this incident, and accused BJP of inciting anti-Muslim sentiments nationwide. He urged the oppressed, exploited and working class to stand against the divisive politics of vote-centric political parties based on religion, caste and creed.
