  • Urging people to maintain calm, Speaker Biman Banerjee on Thursday said that Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s claims on suspicious activity in Baruipur and remarks on Kashmir attack were unfortunate.

“We are deeply saddened by the incident of Kashmir. We should maintain our calm and communal harmony, but I don’t know why the Leader of Opposition is trying to instigate iolence. He burnt Pakistan’s flag, chanted slogans about Hindus. He doesn’t realise that Hindus live in Bangladesh and Pakistan. They can be attacked there. It is very unfortunate,” said Banerjee, who represents Baruipur in the Assembly.

Earlier in the day, Adhikari assembled with BJP MLAs in front of the Assembly and burnt the national flag of Pakistan. “They killed 26, we need 260 of their heads. Modi hai to mumkin hain. You wait and see, our Army this time will also enter Pakistan and kill them.”

Adhikari on Wednesday night met the wife of Bitan Adhikari, who was killed in Pahalgam terror attack. Consoling her, he said: “This will not be tolerated, Bitan was killed because he was a Hindu. We will see the end of this. They will kill Hindus in Hindustan! Gaza is over, Israel is over. We will also end it. We are Modi’s disciples. We are Modi’s children.”

On Thursday, he accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of not blaming Pakistan. “She (Mamata) never blamed Pakistan. She blamed the internal security of the country and the Central government. I would not say anything. The wives of the martyrs will answer,” Adhikari posted on X on Thursday.
