• CRS check of Sealdah-Esp stretch today

  • Kolkata: The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is scheduled to conduct the final inspection of the Sealdah-Esplanade stretch of East-West Metro on Sunday. A favourable report will ensure the launch of the section that will finally start the full Howrah Maidan-Sector V run on Green Line.

East-West Metro services are currently suspended for three days—Saturday to Monday—to facilitate technical upgrades. In this period, KMRC will carry out comprehensive software updates across six train rakes, ensuring system synchronisation and readiness for the new section, a Metro Railway official said, adding the CRS check would be carried out during this shutdown.

Metro has decided to revise the directional tags on the Green Line. Once the Sealdah-Esplanade section is flagged off, Metro will adopt a system more familiar to commuters: trains running from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V will be marked ‘Up' and those in the opposite direction ‘Down'.
