123 Krishnanagar (Nadia): Rana Biswas, a youth from Nadia, posted photographs on Facebook in January showing him with arms-toting "Pakistani bhaiya" during his week-long stay in Dubai. He found himself in trouble after the Pahalgam terror attacks, as the Kotwali police questioned him for 24 hours and released him on Sunday, only after seizing his smartphone.
A local BJP neta discovered Biswas's Facebook photos on Friday and reported them to the police, claiming the photographs did not appear to be superimposed. The police have not found any terror links to Biswas so far but have not given him a clean chit until his phone is forensically examined. Kotwali police station inspector-in-charge Amalendu Biswas stated, "We released him on Sunday, but we have kept his phone for further investigation." The inspector-in-charge mentioned that no terror links have been found yet, and Biswas claimed he uploaded the photographs for fun.

However, the BJP neta remains unconvinced. Sandip Majumdar, BJP Nadia North media convener, said, "I have checked the photographs. Those are not superimposed. The post had words like 'Pakistani bhaiya' and 'My Friend', and a photograph with a terrorist."
Biswas, a resident of Kotwali police station's Bhandarkhola, went to Mumbai for work last year and stayed there for six months. From there, he went to Dubai for work with the help of a broker on January 3. Upon reaching Dubai, he discovered that he was promised the job of an office boy but was made to work as a sweeper. He returned to India on January 11. He claims he did not have the money to buy Wi-Fi while in Dubai, so he shared it with a person he calls Amzad. It was Amzad who insisted that Biswas post his photographs on Facebook, which Biswas says he did without considering the implications.
