NKDA to form task force to keep tabs on food prices at markets

Kolkata: The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has decided to set up a task force of its own to keep a regular check on the prices of food items in the NKDA-run markets across New Town.
Officials said the aim was to maintain constant check at the markets to ensure that vegetables, eggs, fish, and meat are sold at govt-regulated prices only. "The process to form the task force has been initiated. The task force will consist of NKDA officials," said an official. This comes after locals complained of food items being sold at 20% to 25% higher prices. An inspection was also carried out recently—Suman Chakraborti.
