Kolkata: IndiGo Airlines cancelled the direct flight from Kolkata to Srinagar until May 6, citing operational reasons. The airline did not specify what led to the decision but officials said flyers booked on the flight were being offered an alternative to fly to Srinagar via Delhi or to cancel the ticket with a full refund.
Aviation industry sources said the spate of cancellations for Kashmir following the terror attack at Pahalgam could have led to a sharp decline in load and made the flight unviable. However, Air India Express, which has a direct flight between Kolkata and Srinagar as well, is continuing with the operation.
According to the travel trade industry, nearly nine out of 10 people booked on flights to to Kashmir at the end of April and in May have cancelled their trip. tnn
