123 Rishra: Rajani Shaw, the wife of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, travelled from her home in Rishra to Pathankot to find out about her husband, who was detained by Pakistan Rangers last Wednesday after he strayed across the border. She journeyed to Ferozepur in a BSF vehicle to meet Purnam's commanding officer on Wednesday.
Rajani, who is expecting a child, travelled to Ferozepur with her son Arab, two sisters and a brother-in-law.

After the meeting, Rajani said the officer assured her that there could be some good news in a couple of days, hinting at the possibility of Purnam being handed over to the force by Pakistan Rangers. "After several days of anxiety, I saw a glimmer of hope on Wednesday," Rajani told TOI.
The development comes a day after she received news of the flag meeting between the security forces of the two countries being cancelled. According to her, the officer told her that Purnam's safety was being discussed at the highest level.
While there were such straying incidents in the past, soldiers were usually allowed to return after flag meetings between the two sides. However, heightened tensions after the Kashmir terror attack has led to anxiety over the prolonged delay in Purnam's repatriation across the border.
