Kolkata: A major fire broke out at an e-cycle and e-bike charging, repair and docking station near Central Mall in New Town on Friday evening, triggering panic among residents and visitors to the busy commercial area. Several electric bicycles, scooters and other equipment were gutted. No injuries were reported.
The blaze, which was controlled in an hour by four fire tenders, may have been caused by short circuit, said an official. "It was intense due to presence of batteries, electronic equipment," he added. NKDA has sought a report from the maintenance agency.
