  • The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) declared the Madhyamik (Class 10) results 2025 on Friday, with 66 candidates securing the top 10 ranks. The overall pass percentage stands at 86.56 per cent, a slight increase from last year’s 86.31 per cent. Notably, districts across the state have outperformed Kolkata in this year’s exam.

Ramanuj Gangopadhyay, president of the Madhyamik Board, announced that while there were 66 students in the top 10 positions, only one student had achieved the first rank. Aditro Sarkar from Rajganj secured the top rank, scoring 696 out of 700 marks, 99.43 per cent.

Anubhav Biswas from Malda’s Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir and Soumya Pal from Bankura’s Bishnupur High School jointly secured the second rank, both scoring 694 marks.

Biswas, who aspires to become a doctor and enjoys detective stories, expressed his intention to pursue his future studies under the Delhi Board. “My parents, didi, and teachers have contributed towards success. I am very happy and want to pursue medical in the future,” he said.

“My heartfelt congratulations to all the students who passed this year’s Madhyamik exams! I hope you will be even more successful in the future. On this memorable day in your life, I also extend my heartfelt greetings to your parents, guardians and teachers. Their support and guidance have made this success possible,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

“To those who couldn’t do well today, I would say: Don’t be discouraged. Keep trying. Success will come in the future. Once again, I extend my heartfelt blessings and good wishes to all of you. Stay well, everyone,” she added.

The results have been declared 69 days after the exams concluded. The exams were held at 2,683 centres with 423 custodians overseeing the question papers.

This year, the number of candidates whose examinations were cancelled due to unfair means decreased to 19, a considerable drop from the 145 cancellations in 2024.

A total of 9,84,753 students registered for the 2025 Madhyamik exams, comprising 4,28,803 male and 5,55,950 female students, marking an increase of over 65,000 candidates compared to the previous year.

The official announcement of the results was made at a press conference held by the WBBSE. The distribution of mark sheets and certificates to schools from the board’s camp offices will commence soon.
