The bus terminus will be removed from Esplanade, and buses will either go to the New Town terminus or the Santragachhi terminus. The Calcutta HC ordered the shifting of the bus stand from Esplanade in 2011. The Supreme Court thereafter upheld the judgment but relaxed the time frame. Since then, 14 years have passed. Apart from office-goers and shoppers in and around New Market, the car park will also cater to those who decide to park their vehicles at Esplanade and then travel by metro to different parts of the city for work. Once that happens, Esplanade will require major crowd circulation management. KP has suggested the construction of a separate underpass for use by pedestrians to cross the Jawaharlal Nehru Road at the intersection of SN Banerjee Road and Rani Rashmoni Avenue.
