  • Kolkata: The Kolkata Police cyber crime cell of the detective department has arrested one person for allegedly orchestrating an international cyber fraud operation targeting Amazon customersin the United Kingdom. Bikas Kumar Ray, 29, the accused, was picked up from his residence at Shapoorji Pallanji Shukhobrishti in New Town on Thursday."Ray and his associates allegedly operated a country-wide scam by impersonating Amazon executives using a VC dialer system.The suspects gained unauthorised access to victims' Amazon Pay accounts and fraudulently transferred credits to their own digital wallets," said Rupesh Kumar, Joint CP (crime & traffic). During the raid, the cops seized multiple pieces of evidence, including a laptop containing proof of communication with UK victims and unauthorised access to their Amazon accounts. The police also recovered 12 mobile phones, some containing incriminating WhatsApp chats regarding call centre operations and commission payments, and a router."The seized devices revealed substantial evidence linking the suspect to a previously raided operation on April 30, 2025," said Joint CP Kumar.
