• Govt to develop Furfura Sharif as tourism destination

  • 12 Kolkata: Bengal govt has decided to develop the Furfura Sharif region following CM Mamata Banerjee's recent visit, with the aim of promoting tourism, particularly pilgrimage and eco-tourism.TheFurfura Sharif Development Authority(FSDA), encompassing 75 sq km across Jangipara and Chanditala PS areas of Hooghly, intends to create a land use map and register.FSDA would engage a consultant to create a comprehensive "land use and development control plan", an official said. The authority also plans to conduct a survey across the area spanning over 18,500 acres. Planners would use data from the survey, and also from respective RTOs and other authorities concerned," the official added.
