Kolkata: The Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has arrested one more person, a Diamond Harbour resident, for allegedly being involved with a new terror module in the state, with close association with both Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh and JMB's mother organisation, Lashkar-e-Taibain Pakistan. With Abbasuddin Molla (25), the number of arrests in this module since Friday came to three. SP (Bengal STF-operations) Indrajit Basu said Molla was taken into police custody after he, along with Ajmol Hussain (28) and Saheb Ali Khan (28), arrested from Nalhati and Murarai in Birbhum, were produced in a Birbhum court. The three have been booked under BNS Act.Molla, a JMB recruit, was instructed by Pakistani handlers to arrange for weapons and ensure a separate terror module, comprising Indians, was created in east and Northeast India, said an officer. The three accused initially worked for JMB but recently, they started forming a separate group, aimed at spreading extremist ideology. The network reportedly includes people from Birbhum, South 24 Parganas and other south Bengal districts. "The arrested are part of a module engaged in the dissemination of seditious and jihadi materials, using encrypted sophisticated mediums. They planned to target certain persons and places... They were engaged in recruiting and motivating youths from a particular community to join terror organisations and radicalising them to wage war against India," said an officer."Intelligence reports indicate that activities of Ansarullah Bangla Team and JMB members have increased in north Bengal, Assam and three districts of south Bengal, the key players being from Birbhum," said an officer. The STF claimed this Bangladesh-based organisation attempted to establish a cell in Bengal. An STF officer said Hossain was in regular contact with Pakistani handlers in PoK. The probe unveiled a network of terror activities, with the accused allegedly attempting to acquire firearms and planning to manufacture explosives.
