Kolkata: A 41-year-old resident of Hindustan Park was allegedly assaulted and his car damaged by a biker at the busy AJC Bose Road-Belvedere Road crossing on Friday after the former reportedly failed to give way."My car was in the extreme left lane, and the biker was constantly banging on my car from the back and hurling abuses. I got down from my car and protested against his misbehaviour. I explained that there was no way to move my car to make room for him. The accused, however, got down from his bike and assaulted me, while the pillion rider — a young woman — kept yelling. He also damaged the bonnet of my car by repeatedly kicking and banging on it. I broke my little finger as he twisted my hand," wrote Avik Bhattacharyya in his complaint. The accused reportedly claimed to be a police officer."We have received the complaint and are examining the video evidence provided by the victim. The accused will be identified, and appropriate action will be taken," said a senior police officer from the Hastings Police Station. Medical reports confirm that Bhattacharyya suffered a broken finger.
