12 Kolkata: From referring to foreign secretary Vikram Misri being trolled on social media to bringing up India "missing its tall leaders", Trinamool Congress MPs on Sunday spoke on multiple issues relating to the India-Pakistan conflict. The party, however, did not issue any statement on the developments after ceasefire was announced, pausing the hostilities.Blaming BJP trolls for attacking Misri online, Trinamool's deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, Sagarika Ghose, wrote on X: "Disgusting and unacceptable that the evil depraved BJP IT Celland its scumbag associates are now trolling India's top diplomat Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. Misri is a highly competent and professional officer as I know from his briefings to the External Affairs Standing Committee. No end to the depravity of Bharatiya Jumla Party soon to be consigned to the dustbin of history." Ghose is also a member of the parliamentary external affairs committee. The party's chief whip in Lok Sabha, Kalyan Banerjee, also took potshots at Modi govt over the ceasefire."When I saw the post of Donald Trump, I could figure out a settlement. His post had a clear indication of US intervention and a settlement arrived at following that. The foreign secretary (Misri), too, commented after that. But Trump's post was significant," Banerjee said.Banerjee added: "Towering personalities in politics likeIndira Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Atal Bihari Vajpayee are being missed today. Operation Sindoor'Decided to strike where it would hurt': Air Marshal on Op SindoorOp Sindoor: IC-814 hijackers, Pulwama plotters among over 100 terrorists killed'Pak Army lost 35 to 40 personnel': Takeaways from armed forces' briefing on Op SindoorThey were real heroes of the country, and the nation came first for them. They never wanted to become a ‘Vishwaguru. We are grateful to these leaders, our former Prime Ministers, who built the nation."Trinamool has strongly backed the Centre in its "fight against terrorism". The party as well as CM Mamata Banerjee have lauded the role of the Indian armed forces in Operation Sindoor.Bengal, being a border state, is also on alert. The party, however, questioned the deaths of civilian, including women and children, in Poonch sector, which witnessed heavy cross-border shelling by Pakistan. Trinamool brought up why, with drills being conducted countrywide, people living close to the LoC were not evacuated on time. With former PM Indira Gandhi and her role in the 1971 India-Pakistan war — when she stood up to US President Richard Nixon, and subsequently signed the 1972 Simla Agreement with Pakistan President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto — coming up repeatedly, Bengal BJP chose to dispute the claims.BJP Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya said: "Simla Agreement is the worst example of a diplomatic manoeuvre. We won on the field and lost the battle on the table. People have faith in PM Narendra Modi. Pakistan has almost surrendered before us. However, it is a country of some mad men who do not care for any logic. There is no scope for any controversy at this juncture."Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Mother's Day wishes, messages, and quotes !
