123 Kolkata: An app-bike rider, Surya Pillai, put his life at risk and rescued a hotel management student, who was allegedly being assaulted inside an under-construction building at Hanapara in Kestopur, on Saturday night.Even as Pillai barged in, the men attacking the woman turned on him and assaulted him with rods and bamboo sticks. But Pillai managed to call locals and police, who rescued the girl.Police are looking for accused Aman and Sameer Singh, and their two accomplices.The incident occurred around 8 pm when Pillai, originally from Tamil Nadu and now living in Hanapara, was waiting for a passenger near Harimandir Lane in Kestopur. According to his complaint at the Baguiati PS, he saw Aman and Sameer dragging a visibly drunk woman into a building. Pillai stepped inside and asked the group to stop. "But one them tried to hit me on the head with a bamboo stick. I moved away and it landed on my shoulder," he said. "They threatened to kill me. I managed to call my wife and a friend and told them to call police." Pillai added he would have been killed if locals had not reached on time.
