  • A Day after his 26-year-old stepson, Srinjoy Dasgupta, was found dead at his New Town residence, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday publicly expressed concern over the use of drugs among young people.

The BJP leader told media pesons that Srinjoy had “drug-related issues and was on counselling” and suggested that drug consumption may have contributed to his death.

Expressing concern about the dangers of drug abuse among youth, Ghosh urged parents to be vigilant, saying many young people are “drowning in drugs.” “He had drug-related issues and was on counselling. His death is a stark testimony to how easily youths are getting involved in such things. It’s a significant learning lesson for us that despite providing education, young people are still being diverted,” he said.

Srinjoy Dasgupta’s body was discovered at his New Town, Kolkata flat on Tuesday.

Expressing his grief, Ghosh said, “It’s my misfortune. I never had a son, and now I mourn this loss.” “The sudden news caused her (wife Rinku Majumdar) to scream, and she immediately went out and left home…I know he was with friends and stayed with them last night,” he added.
