Kolkata: The Alipore Sessions Court, which houses several legal, police and administrative departments, is set to get additional fans. The Kolkata Police has issued a tender inviting bids for installation of multiple fans in various buildings on its premises within a week after issuance of the work order.This is aimed at addressing the issue of soaring temperatures affecting court proceedings and functioning of other departments. The tender, which closed on Thursday, invited quotations for eight stand fans and 16 wall-mounted units. These will be installed at an estimated cost of Rs 37,000, police officials said."The immediate installation of these cooling systems is crucial for maintaining proper working conditions in the various buildings on the sessions court premises. While defunct ones will be replaced, several new units will also be installed," said an officer at Lalbazar. Court officials reported that the existing ventilation system was inadequate in maintaining comfortable conditions for judges, lawyers, and other attendees. Local vendors of cooling systems and fans were invited to submit their proposals in this regard.
