Illegal ceremonial house: NKDA notice to 11 residential buildings

Kolkata: New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has served notices to owners of 11 buildings in New Town for illegally using the buildings as ceremonial houses.Officials said the 11 residential premises were found to be operating as ceremonial houses without obtaining the requisite permission or statutory clearance from the competent authorities.The notice issued mentioned that these operations were found to be in violation of the previous notification issued by the state urban development department in 2015. This notification allows limited non-residential use of residential premises only with prior approval and compliance with all applicable norms. "The concerned parties have been directed to stop all such illegal ceremonial activities with immediate effect until further orders.
