Bengal BJP takes out Tiranga Yatra to honour valour of armed forces

Kolkata: Bengal BJP netas on Friday took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra' (march with tricolour) from College Street to commemorate the valour of India's armed forces in Operation Sindoor. While similar yatras would be taken out in the districts, the party's women's wing will begin door-to-door campaigns after that.BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar and leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari led the rally of party workers to Shyambazar five-point crossing. "People have shown their solidarity with India's armed forces. People have even visited temples to offer pujas for the armed forces. We are not carrying our party flag as this march is for people to participate," said Majumdar."Operation Sindoor is a shining example of India's military might and strategic clarity under PM Narendra Modi's leadership," Adhikari said.Members of BJP's mahila morcha applied vermillion on their faces in a symbolic representation of Operation Sindoor and carried decorated pots carrying abir in their hands. They also exchanged sindoor with each other. "Indian armed forces attacked terrorist outfits in Pakistan to avenge the killing of innocent men. It was also to avenge the loss of the widows," said Falguni Patra, president of Bengal BJP's mahila morcha.As the rally was moving towards Shyambazar with participants chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and ‘Vande Mataram', BJP functionaries crossed a rally of SFI and DYFI supporters.As supporters of both parties engaged in a heated exchange, police intervened to bring the situation under control. This fracas blocked roads for more than 30 minutes.
