  • Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Friday directed the parents of the RG Kar rape-murder victim to respond to the affidavit submitted by CBI. The affidavit stated that the second DNA found near the victim was due to contamination during the autopsy and not due to the presence of a second person at the crime scene. The CBI submitted their third report before the judge on the RG Kar probe. The matter of the second female DNA was discussed extensively in the trial court judgment. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh also noted that the contamination could be due to some instruments. The judge pointed out the CBI report showed that only Roy touched the body, while also emphasising the second point of the finding, which stated that one female was present at the scene of the crime. "They (parents) have come for satisfaction. They have some questions. You are the investigating agency. At this point, we can only take a pragmatic view. It is now only a contest between experts. Once we find a fault, we will give directions on how and what to do," Justice Ghosh said.CBI also submitted the CFSL report, which was asked to be handed over to the parents' counsel. When their counsel asked for a court-monitored probe, Justice Ghosh said that even though he doesn't want to use "court-monitored", that's what they are doing. "I would not want to do anything which may touch the core of the outcome of the trial which already took place," Justice Ghosh said.
